Barb Geinzer and books go together |
Barb
Geinzer has been the Director of the Sully Community Library since
2006. "I love books," Barb said as her reason for becoming a librarian.
She and her husband Guy have one grown son, Tony who lives in Cedar
Rapids. The Geinzers live in Newton with their ornery black and white,
long-haired cat named Daytona. Of course Barb's hobby is reading but "I
also knit a lot and I love crafts too."

The City of Sully is fortunate when comparing our financial picture for 2009 against budgets for many other communities both large and small. That is not to say that we do not have challenges ahead of us but we find ourselves still able to meet all necessary items and plan for others in the future. For the upcoming 2009/2010 fiscal year for the City of Sully; projected revenue is $881,057 and projected expenses are $907,856. The difference of $26,800 will come from the local option sales tax and from reserves/savings that the city has accrued in the different funds.

Allycuts: Renovated, Remodeled, Transformed |
From the size of a backroom in the alley by the Coffee Cup Café to the
old Social Freeze remodeled, Alison Agan has changed hairstyling in
Sully for the better.
Her business, called Allycuts, does hair cuts, facial waxing, coloring, tanning and much more.
According to Agan, the renovations to her business entailed much
remodeling after purchasing the old Social Freeze building on the east
side of Sully's square in 2008. The business has a new roof, new walls
for the tanning room, new windows which provide more lighting, new
flooring, and an outside "face-lift" with paint.

Howard Vander Griend and music go together... |
|
You would know that Sully resident Howard Vander Griend, 70, and music
go together if you've ever had the pleasure of hearing his piano
playing or his deep, resonating bass voice in choir, solo, duet,
quartet, or small group. "My mother forced me to take piano lessons and
I hated them I play the piano by ear for my own pleasure," Howard said.
And it was piano playing by ear that as he was reaching retirement age,
he thought piano tuning would be a good part-time job so he took a
correspondence course and taught himself the skill. "I once did alot of
piano tuning, but now I just do a few as a hobby," Howard explained.
