2012_vb_teamThe Lynnville-Sully volleyball team boasted a winning 15-12 overall record this season and finished tied for third in the SICL Conference with a 7-3 conference record. A standout accomplishment for the team happened early in the season when the girls won the championship title at a weekend tournament in Bussey. As the season went on, the girls found more and more success on the court. In the first roundof the Class 1A Regional Volleyball Tournament, the Hawks swept the Tri-County Trojans in three sets. The victory advanced the Hawks to the second round, where they took down BGM in three sets--a proud accomplishment for the L-S girls since they had fallen to the Bears during the regular season. The Hawks' successful season came to an end against No. 1-ranked Grundy Center on Oct. 26 -- just one game short of the regional championship game. The Hawks had three players earn all-conference honors: Senior Kelsey Beyer for first-team all-conference and juniors Cassie Cullen and Jade Van Rees for honorable mention.
