The West edge of Sully is home to a special treasure for our small town. For many years, the locker was nestled inside of town not far from the city square and was known for processing quality meat products. A fire destroyed that building, and the owners moved the location to 11892 Hwy F62E. Now known as Sully Locker & Market, the location is more than just a meat locker, which has been owned by Gideon & Emily Boender since January of 2025.
They process only cattle and hogs, but local farmers keep their calendars full, which means 12 employees on staff to get everything done as it needs to be. When an order is placed with them, the customer has the choice on how they want their meat to be cut and the locker has a form to fill out with them making your ordering a straightforward process.
But no worries if you do not pre-order processing with them, their freezers and refrigerator sections always are stocked with a variety of meats to choose from. And you can also find fresh farm eggs from Van Gorps farm in their refrigerators. In addition to offering individual processed beef and pork for sale, they carry fryer chickens from Vander Wilts. Just keep in mind that you need to allow at least a week’s notice on meat bundle orders.
The freezer section not only offers meats to choose from, but also holds some yummy sweet treats. Delicious fruit pies from The Rolling Pin, which is located just outside of Peoria, IA, can be found in those freezers too and usually include choices from Apple, Dutch Apple, Peach Crumble, Cherry, Berry Splash and Blueberry Crumble. You can preorder specialty cream pies too for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
If you forgot an item at the store, their shelves are full of a variety of grocery items, including several locally sourced products, such as Ebert Honey of Lynnville, Amos Flava BBQ sauces from Pella, and Wild Bramble BBQ Sauce out of Oskaloosa.
